Broken Up

Some ice near the shore line of Lake Ontario in Sodus has broken up recently as seen here in Sodus Point. Large pieces were buckled up and frozen together as the waves had pushed them towards shore. The all day sunshine on Friday made the shore line glisten and sparkle until the sun came to rest.

Who Would Have Thought!

Who Would Have Thought!

After enjoying a sunny Saturday in Canandaigua, we were driving back to Naples along West Lake Road and spotted swans on the ice. Most were Mute Swans but one was a Trumpeter Swan with a yellow wing tag, J68. It was the same bird I had seen in Canandaigua’s Lagoon Park on January 9, 2014 and had posted a picture on FingerLakes1.com at that time. Checking out the tag, I found the swan is part of a banning program performed by the Trumpeter Swan Restoration Group in Ontario, Canada. So what are the odds that I would encounter this lovely bird once again, on a different area of water, 25 miles from where I saw it last?
